In honor of Motherβsπ π π© 𧀠π₯Ώ π π π₯§ Day arriving shortly- I want to tell a sweet π§ daughter story. Back in β85 or β86 we were camping ππ¦ π π¦ πΏ π π our way to Canandaigua, NY to see my π§ Daddy in a VA medical center. The night before we were due to arrive the next day at the center, we opted to stay in a beautiful Bed π and Breakfastπ³ π₯― π₯ π½ , sadly I do not remember the name only that is was very close to a ski π resort. We had booked one room for the 4 π§ π©βπ¦° π§ π¦ of us. Upon arrival and having our luggage accessible, we took our luggage with us to check in. All of us had a small over night bag π πΌ π π§³and our own pillows. Both kids had a fav blanket and plush π§Έ π§Έ animal. The Inn Keeper told us we were her only guest that for the night so she gave the kids their own room and led us to ours. Since it was early evening, we went out for dinner and then took a walk around her beautiful property.
We each prepped for bedtime then JM and I went in to each of the kids for tuck in and prayers. We discussed (like always), the plans for the upcoming day and our expectations for their behavior and answered any questions. They had not seen their π§ Grandfather in declining health or in a βΏοΈ wheelchair before so I wanted them to feel as comfortable and to be as supportive as they could. We told them when breakfast π³ π₯― π₯ π½ would be π and went back to our room.
The next morning, 2 π§ π©βπ¦° of us but only 1 kid π¦ were at the table at the requested time π . I excused myself and went looking for the late one, our π§ daughter. I found her still in π bed. She has been up, washed her face, brushed her teeth and hair, made her π bed and crawled back in. She was sitting up in bed, pretty as a π Princess in her nightie on her fluffed pillows and perfectly wrinkle free bed. The blanket and top sheet were perfectly folded across her lap. Needless to say I was shocked, I figured I would at least find her tying her π π shoes. I asked her why she was not πππ§’πΆdressed and at π³ π₯― π₯ π½ breakfast with the rest of us. She did the fingering βrequest you come hereβ gesture, so I went over to her and leaned down. She leaned forward and whispered (I think as not to embarrass me), βMom, this is a breakfast π³ π₯― π₯ π½ IN bed π place.β
How can you just not melt??!! I went to ask the Inn keeper if indeed we could make that happen for her and she did. (I donβt remember pictures being taken)
Never understand estimate what kids hear ππ§ and then perceive π§ = π‘ π³
